Position Overview:We have an immediate need for a locum Gastroenterology Physician to provide gastroenterology services for our veteran population at the Central Iowa VA Healthcare System located in Des Moines, IA. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in veterans lives while experiencing the beauty where the Great Plaines intersect the Midwest.Responsibilities:Provide comprehensive clinical gastroenterology services including the full range of colonoscopy and Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) procedures such as: Colonoscopyo Colonoscopy via colostomyo Colonoscopy w/biopsy(ies)o Colonoscopy w/ablation of tumor/polyp/lesiono Colonoscopy w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by snare techniqueo Colonoscopy w/out biopsyo Colonoscopy w/ submucosalo Colonoscopy control of bleeding Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)o EGD diagnostico EGD w/biopsy(ies)o EGD w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by hot forcepso EGD w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by snare techniqueo EGD w/variceal bandingo EGD control of bleedingProvide consultative services at the patient s bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and, in the clinic, setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic.BC/BE:Must have completed a residency in Internal Medicine and be Board Certified in accordance with American Board of Internal Medicine s Gastroenterology Standards.Credentialling and onboarding takes approximately 4-6 weeks.Hours & Schedule: Inpatient/Phone Consult/Question Only Consultation: Monday through Friday 8:00am 4:00pm (excluding federal holidays).
