Job Summary:
The GCMS Laboratory Technician plays a critical role in the accurate, timely, and reliable analysis of compressed air and gas samples using GC?MS technologies. This position is responsible for executing quantitative chemical analyses, verifying, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation, and ensuring full compliance with ISO 17025 quality standards. The technician collaborates closely with cross?functional laboratory teams to support daily operations, uphold data integrity, and contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes. This role requires strong technical expertise, disciplined adherence to SOPs, and a commitment to delivering high?quality results in a fast?paced, production?focused laboratory environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily hands-on operations in the GC-MS lab, including building calibration curves, sample prep and loading, and parts and consumables inventory management
  • Plan and execute instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair in a high-volume production environment
  • Coordinate effectively with other laboratory teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of testing and reporting of results
  • Identify deviations, investigate root causes, and effectively communicate any analysis issues that may affect the integrity of results
  • Adhere strictly to standard operating procedures and quality control requirements
  • Design method improvements and validate new processes, software, and equipment
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and audit-ready work environment
  • Other related duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Chemistry or Bio-Chemistry
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience performing GC-MS maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational support


Key Compentencies:

  • Working knowledge of statistical principles and data evaluation methods used in analytical chemistry
  • Strong technical communication skills, including the ability to document findings and convey complex information clearly
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives


Preferences:

  • Experience with GC-MS for both gas and liquid phase analyses and chemical extraction techniques
  • Proficiency with chromatographic data systems (ChemStation, OpenLab)
  • 5 years' experience in an ISO 17025 regulated commercial laboratory
  • Experience working in high-volume, production-focused laboratories with strict turnarounds times
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis tools (fishbone diagrams, 5 whys)


Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements:
This position will be based at our site in Dripping Spring, TX no travel.
