Job Description SummaryJob DescriptionBecome familiarized with generator construction and performance. Apply this knowledge to improve the generator design process through development of new interfaces for existing design software. Add enhancements to design software according to engineer requests. Of special interest is software that is aimed at large nuclear generator design. These machines have some unique geometries and features due to their large size and high power density. This industry has been dormant for several decades and is now being revived by the AI power boom. Gain lab experience by assisting in the suppressor redesign effort - make tape trials on tubes for the new suppressor candidates from various tape vendors around the world.Project Outcomes:Design engineers will regain convenient access to historical design methods used for nuclear generator design.Primary Skills Developed:An overview of generator construction and operation. Applied knowledge of C# C Python and FORTRAN as applied to engineering design processes. Insulation test sample preparation and qualification methods.Basic Qualifications:-Engineering student undergrad or masters.-Minimum GPA of 4.0/5.0.Desired Qualifications:-Electric power engineer preferred.
