GEAR UP Math & ELA Tutor at The Wonderful Company

Wonderful College Prep Academy is accepting applications for a Part-time tutor position with the GEAR UP program at WCPA Lost Hills. Assignments will be approximately 28 hours per week during class times lunch and afterschool. Workdays will align with the Wonderful College Prep Academy calendar.The GEAR UP Tutors responsibilities may include but are not limited to:Provide tutoring services to students 1:1 or in small groups in classrooms.Collaborate with and provide support for GEAR UP staff.Work directly with students to provide various academic support services (i.e. tutoring assisting with completing forms assisting with workshops etc.).Assist in the planning organizing and implementing GEAR UP grant activities.Follow school and GEAR UP protocols and procedures.Perform related duties as assigned.Tutor Hours: Monday - Thursday 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM (28 hours per week)ABOUT THE GEAR UP GRANT: GEAR UP is a federally funded Title III Grant. Wonderful College Prep Academy in partnership with Avenal and Sanger Unified School Districts will work with 6th and 7th-grade students from four middle schools to prepare them for college. The Federal Department of Education website for GEAR UP is discretionary grant program is designed to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. GEAR UP provides seven-year grants to states and partnerships to provide services at high-poverty middle and high schools. GEAR UP grantees serve an entire cohort of students beginning no later than the seventh grade and follow the cohort through high school and their first year of college.Qualifications : College graduate or be enrolled in college and have completed freshman English and college math (Algebra II) (preferred)At least one year of tutoring experience (preferred)An eager flexible learner and problem solver who feels comfortable taking initiativeA self-starter with exceptional work ethic and the ability to work well away from colleagues and managementOutstanding written and verbal communication skillsAn ability to quickly establish rapport and communicate well with scholarsBilingual in Spanish is a plusPay: $18.00/hour.Additional Information : Wonderful College Prep Academy offers highly competitive compensation commensurate with experience. WCPA offers an optional 403b with company match (5%) Employees have free access to the Wonderful Wellness Center and gymQuality of Life in the Central Valley: Framed by the Sierra Nevada to the east and the Coast Ranges to the west Californias Central Valley is one of the worlds most productive agricultural regions and the base of The Wonderful Companys agricultural operations.
