Maintenance Manager
Maintenance Manager Job Location: Cincinnati, OH Reports to: Plant Manager Additional Details: $5,000 Signing Bonus, payable within 30 days of start date About PPG Precision Products Group (PPG) is a growing global leader in converting niche engineered materials for electrical, aerospace & defense, medical, and industrial markets. As a result of growth, we are introducing a new Maintenance Manager role to strengthen and scale our Cincinnati, OH location - Cindus Corporation. Precision Products Group operates across multiple company divisions and brands, which include Cindus Corporation, Paramount Tube, Breyden Products, Saylor Technical Products, and Euclid Medical. Role Overview We seek a versatile and detailed-oriented Maintenance Manager with a hands-on approach to oversee the technical integrity and operational efficiency of our Cincinnati, OH facility. This is a critical role that will transform our maintenance strategy from reactive to proactive. This role will be the technical lead for diverse systems ranging from heavy steam and hydraulics to precision PLCs and mechanical drive trains. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all maintenance activities to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the facility, equipment, and product assets. This role leads the maintenance team and coordinates with the operations team to support operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, and customer standards. This role will have autonomy and responsibility to develop and implement standardized maintenance processes and build a robust Preventative Maintenance (PM) program from the ground up. The Maintenance Manager will be highly collaborative cross-functionally within the organization and is a critical resource for the company to achieve aggressive growth targets. - Manage the lifecycle and reliability of diverse assets in the areas of Thermodynamics & Fluids, Automation, and Power/Motion Transmission.
- Will support all maintenance functions for steam boilers, hydraulic systems, control systems, motors, rollers, shafts, bearings, HVAC, electrical equipment, and plumbing systems.
- Development of Preventative Maintenance (PM) program by designing, specifying, and implementing standardized processes and timelines for machine maintenance activities. This includes implementing a CMMS software package or process that is suited for the organization's needs.
- Provide project management oversight and simultaneously lead multiple capital improvement projects and equipment installs, ensuring they stay on schedule and within budget.
- Provide vendor management by identifying, vetting, and managing external contractors for specialized repairs and inspection.
- Plan, schedule, and oversee preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to ensure equipment, facilities, and systems operate reliably and efficiently.
- Minimize machine downtime through effective troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history.
- Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance technicians to ensure proper support for facility needs and production requirements, including a unionized workforce.
- Assing work activities, set priorities, and ensure adequate staffing coverage.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement to drive operational performance and enhance the overall performance of the business.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide team member feedback, complete training needs assessments, and implement training action plans.
- Ensure all equipment meets applicable local, state, and federal regulatory standards for safety and environmental regulations.
- Participate in risk assessments, safety reviews, FMEAs, hazard analyses, machine safeguarding, and LOTO process discussions and improvements.
- Enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols, safety inspections, and maintenance best practices to continually improve the safety of the work environment for all team members.
- Support validation and documentation required for audits, certifications, and permits.
- Develop and execute asset management and reliability strategies to improve equipment uptime, availability, and lifecycle performance.
- Support capital projects, installations, and commissioning activities for new equipment.
- Provide feedback and recommendations for equipment modifications, upgrades, or replacements as needed.
- Ensure process controls for managing maintenance budget and the purchasing of supplies/equipment to support the maintenance team.
- Coordinate with leadership to control maintenance labor, contractor, and spare parts spend.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities without impacting operational efficiency or reliability.
- Implement a process to manage inventory of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and tools/equipment to control costs and business impacts.
- Implement and optimize processes to enhance preventative maintenance and machine reliability.
- Coordinate with Engineering to ensure proper design, safety guarding, and machine operation procedures are documented and utilized.
- Develop best practices, machine startup procedures, and implement periodic reviews of standard work activities to provide feedback to operators and leadership throughout the facility.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, up-time, standardization across automation platforms, cost reduction, cycle times, and overall system efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and projects within operations and maintenance.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or relevant experience.
- Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in manufacturing maintenance, facility maintenance, or industrial maintenance.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and developing maintenance team members.
- Experience with modern manufacturing technologies, controls, and equipment.
- Excellent analytical, data analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong knowledge and experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, automated systems, and all aspects of facility of management.
- Ability to utilize lean tools and six sigma methodologies.
- Experience with high-volume or continuous manufacturing systems.
- Knowledge of industrial automation systems, PLCs, motion control, safety systems, robotics, vision systems, inspection automation, and advanced sensing.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience working within small-to-mid-sized company with a unionized workforce.
