JOB DESCRIPTION

General Production Worker

Pay: $18 an hour

Shift: 1st shift

Job Description

We are seeking candidates to join our team as material handlers in a plastic pipe extrusion company. This role involves removing pipes from the extrusion machine and placing or stacking them onto racks. Once a rack is full, you will band up the pipes to prepare them for forklift transport to scales for weighing. You will also perform visual checks of the pipes and load any defective ones onto scrap pallets. There is an opportunity to get certified on forklifts and, for those who excel in this role, a chance for promotion to an extrusion operator position.

Responsibilities

  • Remove pipes from extrusion machines and stack them onto racks.
  • Band up pipes on racks for forklift transport.
  • Perform visual inspections of pipes and load defective ones onto scrap pallets.
  • Operate forklift once certified.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure production efficiency.

Essential Skills

  • General labor experience.
  • Material handling experience.
  • Forklift operation or willingness to get certified.
  • Understanding of extrusion processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Material Handler 1 - Entry-level, suitable for recent graduates with no prior experience.
  • Material Handler 2 - 2 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing or distribution.
  • Material Handler 3 - Experience in an extrusion or injection mold environment.

Work Environment

The work environment is in a large company with several divisions, specifically manufacturing plastic piping. Shifts are from 8am to 8pm or 8pm to 8am, following a 2,2,3 shift pattern. You will work every other weekend, with a schedule that provides 5 to 6 months off per year. The environment is dusty and not climate-controlled.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, KY.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.60/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
