Job DescriptionJob DescriptionHillis-Carnes Engineering Associates is a top tier, multi-disciplined engineering firm with advanced capabilities in geotechnical and geostructural engineering, environmental consulting, specialty construction, construction materials engineering and testing, and third-party inspections.At HCEA, we can contribute our continuing success to multiple facets, but above all we are successful because of our knowledgeable, ambitious, and reliable employees who make every day count.As a Geotechnical Staff Engineer in our Ashland, VA office, you will work collaboratively with our knowledgeable geotechnical and materials testing/inspections departments and assist with a wide variety of projects for public and private sector clients. Some duties may include but not limited to; test boring/test pit observations, laboratory analysis, preparation of geotechnical reports/calculation, management of field staff, review of daily field reports, performance of on-site construction materials testing services, etc.Qualified candidates will have:BS in Civil Engineering or closely related field. A valid driver's license/ satisfactory driving record accompanied with a reliable vehicle.Ability to meet pre-employment requirements.The ability to (occasionally) work nights, weekends, and travel overnight.To move up to 60-80 pounds (soil and concrete samples, nuclear gauges, etc).Familiarity with engineering and construction plans/specifications.Prior experience with subsurface exploration or construction inspection a plus.EIT working toward PE preferred.Familiarity with geotechnical software (i.e., GeoSystems, Gint, L-Pile, MSEW, etc.) a plus.We are proudly an Equal Opportunity Employer and offer an appealing benefits package.
