Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJOB DESCRIPTION POSITION: Stoney Creek Crew Member, Grounds MaintenanceFLSA: Non-ExemptREPORTS TO: Course Superintendent SUMMARY: This is an opportunity to be part of the annual crew that keeps Stoney Creek Golf course, looking and playing great. In this position, you will help prepare, maintain, and/or repair tees, cups, traps, greens, roughs, fairways, bunkers, creeks, and lakes, and involves the use of hand tools, weed-eaters, fly-mowers, mowing equipment, fertilizer spreaders, and other maintenance tools. Work is performed under supervision, according to specific instruction given by management staff and/or course Superintendent. Employees may be exposed to constant physical exertion, loud noise, machinery, dirt, dust, chemical odors, and extreme weather conditions.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for the safe operation of any equipment usedPerform routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance and constructionMay sit, stand, stoop, climb ladders and walk for long periods of time Clean, maintain, and service equipment Cut grass with power equipment and hand tools Loads and unloads dirt, gravel, sand and debris Pick up trash on the golf course, in the maintenance building, and on the clubhouse grounds Communicate effectively with other employees in the maintenance department and pro shop areaOperate various hand tools, including but not limited to weed eater, backpack sprayer, backpack blower and water hoseDuring Winter Months, assist with snow/ice removal of pathways, sidewalks, and Mountain Inn courtyard.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must be at least 18 years of age.Knowledge of and/or ability to learn about the care and proper use of tools and equipment used in the development and maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, hazards, and general grounds of a golf course. Ability to quickly learn maintenance, care, and construction of greens, tees, fairways, hazards, bunkers, irrigation systems, and general grounds of a golf course. Knowledge of and/or ability to learn about turf disease, insects and rodents, chemicals, and the methods used to control these elements. Knowledge of and/or the ability to learn about the rules of golfAbility to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and the public.Knowledge of and/or the ability to learn occupational hazards and safety precautionsAbility to work flexible hours with some weekend and holiday work required.LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT(S):Must possess a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:Ability to report on work on time and perform the duties of the job for an entire workday.Must have sufficient physical strength and ability to independently and repeatedly lift, move and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.BENEFITS OF WORKING AT WINTERGREEN:Wintergreen Resort is a place for mountain lovers, adventure seekers and outdoor explorers.
