EY is ready to help our government build a better working world.The opportunityOur Government & Public Sector Financial Accounting Advisory Services (GPS FAAS) team is growing exponentially and as a Senior Manager youll play a key role in that growth. Working across all Federal GPS sector service lines youll develop your career by communicating creative strategic goals both internally and externally. Its all about listening to and understanding our clients to give them a truly exceptional experience in a field where there really are no off-the-shelf recommendations.Your key responsibilitiesThe nature of this role means no two projects will be the same. Your role as SLED service line Senior Manager will include but not limited to actively pursuing business development activities (i.e. implementing strategies and tactical steps within and outside EY) to identify opportunities developing proposal responses training staff and executing engagement deliverables simultaneously. That means youll need to think on your feet andchallenge existing practices to develop answers to complex issues. Youll also be collaborating with colleagues acrossmultiple service lines so well look to you to build relationships and identify opportunities for our clients to benefit fromour knowledge in other areas. Regular travel will be required as you will be meeting with key clients some of those beingthe most respected in their fields.Skills and attributes for successDevelop and maintain strong productive working relationships with advisory client personnel assess clients satisfaction and proactively maintain contact with the client throughout the yearDirect field work inform supervisors of the advisory engagement status and manage assurance staff performanceDemonstrate a thorough understanding of complex governmental accounting (i.e. GASB) budgetary reporting and auditing concepts and apply them to client situations experience executing advisory/consulting type work (reporting or transformations).Develop people through effectively delegating audit tasks and providing guidance to assurance staffProvide performance feedback training and performance reviews for assurance StaffContribute ideas/opinions to the assurance teams and listen/respond to other assurance team members viewsFoster an efficient innovative and team-oriented work environmentUse technology to continually learn share knowledge with assurance team members and enhance service deliveryFoster an efficient innovative and team-oriented work environmentUse technology to continually learn share knowledge with assurance team members and enhance service deliveryDevelop an understanding of EYs service lines and actively seek/encourage assurance team members to contribute ideas and identify opportunities to apply the firms servicesTo qualify for the role you must haveU.S. CPA license in your work stateA Bachelors degree in accounting finance or business discipline supported by 10 years of post-college work experience in conducting financial audit and providing financial reporting advisory type support to SLED clients in a fast pace environmentIn-depth understanding on application and implementation of US Governmental GAAP GASB standards Financial and Single Audit (Subpart F of the OMB Uniform Guidance) and OMB guidanceComprehensive knowledge and proficiency in the on the following: preparation and auditing of Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) Annual Financial Statements and Single Audit Report for SLED entitiesProficiency in modified-accrual basis of reporting grants management and budgetary reportingHands on experience with business development in the SLED space and proficiency in deal governance and proposal submission process (should have experience leading multiple proposals in past year)Experience with large regional or national Not for Profit (NFP) client is a plus.Excellent project management skillsExcellent communication and negotiation skills and a collaborative approach to managementA proven record of excellence when managing mentoring and improving a team of high-performing colleaguesDedication to teamwork and leadershipIntegrity within a professional environmentMust be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance or higherThe EY Government and Public Sector Practices staffing model is to assign resources to projects aligned to the office within the metropolitan area you have been hired; however in certain circumstances travel may be required within and/or beyond your geographic region based on client and project needs. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $146700 to $335100. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $176000 to $380800. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education experience knowledge skills and addition our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage pension and 401(k) plans and a wide range of paid time off options.Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model.
