It also provides wellness programs, educational opportunities, and arts and cultural activities for residents and the wider community.This position is primarily responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of food for residents, employees, and visitors. Responsible for cleanliness and proper equipment usage, kitchen appliances, and work areas. Must follow policies regarding sanitation, food handling, safety, confidentiality, personal appearance and hygiene, reporting hazardous conditions and accidents, and attendance at in-service training while maintaining a high level of quality service to residents. This position may also be responsible for driving the catering van for daily catering service.Based upon previous work experiences and qualifications, the starting rate of pay is $15.75 - $20.27 per hour.Schedule10 am-6:30 pm, Monday-FridayWeekends as needed, with a day off during the week80 hours per pay period (every two weeks)Eligible for benefits at date of hireRequirements:Education and Experience: High school graduate or GED equivalent preferred but not required; minimum 1 year of cooking experience in an institutional food service environment.al food service environment.Core Knowledge and Skill: Working knowledge of HACCP and OSHA protocols; detail-oriented with basic mathematical skills; able to read, write, speak, and understand basic English, and follow oral/written instructions.Physical and Availability Requirements: Ability to stand for long hours and lift/carry up to 50 pounds; available for overtime, holidays, and weekends as scheduled; may require VMRC Approved Drivers List authorization.Independence and Motivation: Capable of acting/intervening independently in routine/emergency situations; self-motivated with limited supervision needs; schedules time wisely, accommodates changes, and participates in holiday activities.Interpersonal Skills and Flexibility: A flexible, professional, customer-first manner; willing to cross-train in various VMRC Dining Services duties.Why Join VMRC?We’re offering benefits that hit all the right spots—starting day one for benefit-eligible team members!
