JOB DESCRIPTION
Grinder
As a Grinder Operator, you will play a key role in the reprocessing of scrap conduit materials, supporting material management and production operations. This position offers a pathway for advancement in extrusion line operations, materials handling, and warehouse management.
Responsibilities
- Process all scrap materials through granulators located in the grinding area.
- Operate grinder machines and use hand stripping and A-frame methods to remove scrap conduit from reels.
- Record the number of reels processed and the pounds of material ground for each shift.
- Document instances of downtime or equipment malfunction.
- Ensure accurate accounting of daily shift production.
- Maintain a steady supply of reels and line scrap throughout the shift.
- Stage materials for the start of the following shift.
- Complete regrind report tags for each batch of material processed.
- Ensure proper identification of all reprocessed materials.
- Break down empty containers as received from Production.
- Maintain the Daily Lift Truck Inspection log and file appropriately.
- Report any items requiring corrective action immediately to the Warehouse or Maintenance Supervisor.
- Cross-train in other Extrusion/Warehouse positions.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read, write, and understand the English language.
- Mechanical aptitude to operate power grinding equipment and power hand tools.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Mobility to frequently enter and exit a forklift truck.
- Capability to use two hands in the performance of job tasks.
- Ability to bend and twist as required by job tasks.
- Capacity to work in high temperatures for extended periods.
- Physical ability to wear dust masks, earplugs, and face shields as necessary.
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods at the grinding machine.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Successful completion of Fork Lift operating certification.
- Minimum of 3 months of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment
The work is primarily indoors on the plant floor, where you may encounter heat, dust, and noise. The day shift runs from 7:00 AM to 7:15 PM.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.75 - $19.50/hr.
