Please see the Benefits Overview videofor details on the benefits offered to employees.Description of JobDivision of Capital AssetsThe Division of Capital Assets (DCA) provides leased building space facility management building security and identification programs employee parking ceremonial flag requests and special event permits for the public vehicle call center short-term vehicle rentals (Motor Pool) and vehicle acquisition and lifecycle management.Grounds & Nursery IThis position performs a range of tasks related to the growing and caring of trees shrubs lawns and landscaped areas. It involves maintaining and monitoring irrigation systems as well as trash pickup and removal. It also involves operating a variety of manual tools and cultivation or grounds equipment which may include tractors snowplows lifters aerators and mowers.This position is considered essential. Essential employees can be required to work unexpected or unusual work hours to perform the essential and/or emergency services of the department without delay and/or without interruption.A summary of the duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:Landscape and Grounds MaintenanceMow trim edge weed apply weed control plant (flowers trees shrubs etc.) and prune.Must be able to identify possible problems concerning turf trees shrubs plant material and equipment.Will remove trash and debris from turf areas parking areas sidewalks shrub beds and flower beds at the beginning of each day.Shovel snow from steps and sidewalks operate tractors with brooms and snow plows operate truck with plow and sand spreader operate JD Gator with ice melt spreader apply sand and ice melt by hand and chip ice when needed.Irrigation System MonitoringMaintenance of the irrigation system monitoring and identifying irrigation problems and making repairs as necessary.Equipment Use and MaintenanceUse and maintain grounds equipment including lawn mower lawn tractor string trimmer aerator edger hedge trimmer rotor tiller chain saw pole pruner blower vac and many other pieces of equipment.Minimum Qualifications Substitutions Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights*A Human Resources Analyst will only review the work experience/job duties sections of the online job application to determine whether you meet the minimum qualifications for the position for which you are applying.Cover letters and resumes WILL NOT be accepted in lieu of the official State of Colorado online application but may be attached.
