Pay Grade/Pay Range: Not GradedDepartment/Organization: 820631 - UREC Fitness/Group ExerciseNormal Work Schedule: VariesJob Summary: The Group Exercise Instructor teaches group exercise in a variety of styles.Additional Department Summary: Plans and leads fitness classes in a variety of levels and styles, including cardio, mind-body, and strength-based group exercise classes. Conducts fitness classes in a fun, safe, and effective manner that meet University Recreation guidelines at the direction of the Fitness Programs Coordinator. Provides an encouraging and motivating environment while helping participants to achieve their fitness goals. Completes required training and promoting a safe, hospitable, and respectful workplace.Required Minimum Qualifications: Group exercise instructor or specialist certification from a nationally recognized certifying organization or NCCA (National Commission for Certifying Agencies) accredited fitness certification; OR completion of the Group Exercise Instructor Preparation Course at the University of Alabama Student Recreation Center. Current CPR certification or ability to obtain CPR certification within six (6) weeks of employment.Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrates commitment to supporting all students.Preferred Qualifications: Experience teaching and leading Group Exercise Classes. Nationally recognized group exercise certification, from the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) accredited certifying organization.Background Investigation Statement: Prior to hiring, the final candidate(s) must successfully pass a pre-employment background investigation and information obtained from social media and other internet sources.
