The Group Fitness Instructor will work as sub.POSITION SUMMARY:The Group Exercise Instructor leads and/or demonstrates general fitness classes. This position requires face-to-face leadership and may involve early morning, evening, and weekend responsibilities.PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIESCreates, maintains, and leads exercise routinesDemonstrates correct posture alignmentFollows safety standardsCalculates target heart rates using the age adjusted methodFollows “Perceived Exertion” methods of monitoring exercise intensityProvides feedback on exercise adherenceDevelops fitness regimens to member needsSupports members in fitness routinesDemonstrates proper exercise formImplements Character Development in programsMaintains all areas in clean, presentable fashionHandles member complaintsStays current with advances in the health and wellness fieldPerforms any other functions deemed necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand RapidsCOMPENSATION$20.22 - $24.96 ; Part Time; Non ExemptBENEFITS:Free YMCA Individual Membership – Enjoy full access to facilities.Retirement Savings – 12% employer retirement contribution, no match requirement (upon eligibility) and a 403(b) savings plan. Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
