JOB DESCRIPTION
Deputy Design Manager
The Deputy Design Manager leads the durability and design integrity of GTF High Pressure Compressor (HPC) modules covering all variants and applications of the GTF HPC. The Deputy Design Manager will oversee a group of Design engineers, handling task assignments, employee performance, and results for the group. Additionally, the Deputy Design Manager will support the GTF HPC Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) in task planning, coordinating resources and requirements, and communication with the program office and chief engineers.
What You Will Do
- Assist Design Manager in organizing and managing task assignments & planning, manpower requirements and coordinating in-house and outsource resources.
- Provide cradle-to-grave analytical and design support: from detailed-design through development, validation, manufacturing and operational service.
- Coach, train, and develop the technical proficiency of design engineers.
- Review and approve design documentation and analyses.
- Ensure outsourcing work is completed, reviewed and approved by design associates with appropriate proficiency level.
- Provide support for multidiscipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost, and weight.
- Collaborate with other groups to read across lessons learned, advance technology, and improve engineering standard work processes/methods.
- Ensure proper documentation and communication of results to management and external customers.
- Communicate with team leadership and management on status and risks to program schedule and metrics.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 10+ years of relevant engineering experience OR
- Advanced Degree with 7+ years of relevant engineering experience
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Qualifications We Prefer
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- 5+ years of gas turbine experience
- Prior experience in field and production support and part design and development
- Proven leadership and analytical skills.
- The ability to craft clear communication and develop meaningful relationships
- Possess excellent judgment and professional maturity
