Division professionals develop review implement and evaluate public health interventions proven to promote healthy living prevent chronic disease protect against injury and ensure access to health care and opportunities for a healthy lifestyle. The Division is committed to the professional development collaborative effort and sustained wellness of its workforce.The Office of Suicide Prevention serves as the lead entity for suicide prevention intervention supports and postvention efforts in Colorado collaborating with communities statewide to reduce suicide through health policy legislation public awareness and education training assessments and intervention programsWhat You Will Be Doing:This position operates independently and is accountable for coordinating monitoring and outreach regarding suicide prevention initiatives related to lethal means safety working-age men service members veterans and their families. Serves as the Office of Suicide Preventions subject matter expert on suicide prevention initiatives for these communities the position applies professional standards and guidelines on best practices to provide technical guidance to grantees and stakeholders working on suicide prevention initiatives. This position provides staff support and leadership to the Colorado Service Members Veterans and Their Families Workgroup and theGovernors Challenge to Prevent Suicide Among Service Members and Veterans and Their Families. Additionally this position coordinates the Colorado Gun Shop Project and other lethal means safety efforts for suicide prevention and coordinates efforts for Man Therapy and Operation Veteran Strong.Further this position collaborates with other state injury and violence prevention programs in PSD and CDPHE including the Office of Gun Violence Prevention. Knowledge of firearm safety strategic program coordination and cross-sector coordination are vital for success in this position to anticipate and analyze the impact of decisions.
