Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking a student-focused dedicated hourlyParaeducatorsto assist teachers and other professional practitionersby providing instructional support in collaborative classrooms with students who have special needs (Learning Disabilities Speech Vision Hearing and other Health Impairments) whose educational needs are not met by a general education environment.Essential Job Functions:Assist students with the organization and completion of daily work assignmentsAssist in maintaining a safe nurturing and healthy atmosphere which may include assisting students with social skill development personal hygiene toiletry needs/toilet trainingFollows established procedures for monitoring and redirecting student behavior when supervising small groupsMaintains and organizes students instructional materials and/or cumulative filesAdminister and/or assist with preparing for various assessments for students as necessaryUses special skills (i.e. sign language transliterating advanced computer training) to assist in two-way communication between the teacher and the student as necessaryPerforms additional non-instructional duties including but not limited to cafeteria duty bus duty hall duty and office dutyClick hereto read the full Job Description for this role.Education and Experience:RequiredHigh School Diploma or GEDA minimum of two (2) years working with children within an instructional educational or related settingSpecial Requirements:Special education teachers assigned to work with students with emotional disabilities should have been trained in MANDT methodology and should receive additional training as appropriate annually.About Spotsylvania County Public Schools:Comprised of 31 schools and home to a diverse student population of over 24000 Spotsylvania County Public Schools is one of the largest School Divisions in the Commonwealth of Virginia.So what sets us apart Choosing SCPS means joining a highly collaborative team of professionals who inspire challenge and support one another to be their very best everyday.
