Federally designated as a senior military college, one of the university's signature leadership programs is its 800-member Corps of Cadets on UNG's Dahlonega Campus.Job Summary The University of North Georgia's Institute for Peak Performance is accepting applications for a Head Athletic Trainer for the Corps of Cadets. The Head Athletic Trainer-IPP is a specially designed position responsible for directing and coordinating comprehensive medical coverage to the cadet program, composed of over 730 cadets. This position serves as the cadet Healthcare Administrator and can function as a preceptor in the Athletic Training Education Program, able to direct and instruct clinical education of athletic training students. This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and holds the responsibility of serving as a mandatory reporter for all Clery Act crimes. The University of North Georgia will not be sponsoring any new H-1B visas until further notice.Responsibilities Manages and directs comprehensive medical care for over 750 cadets. Manages and mentors cadet sports medicine and cadet performance staff members. Responsible for the prevention, recognition and rehabilitation of injuries sustained. Provide coverage of specified training and competition events and training room times. On call for routine physical training and labs.Serves as Cadet Healthcare Administrator, ensuring compliance with policies, regulations and mandates.Serves as liaison with Team Physician(s) and other medical and cadet leadership academy personnel as applicable. Support UNG athletic training education program faculty.Coordinate a comprehensive mental health program. Direct overall management of applicable concussion protocols derived from Army policy and best practices.Support Assistant AD for Sports Medicine & Performance as directed.Oversee maintenance of (electronic) medical records and cadet medical insurance considerations as applicable.Additional duties as assigned by IPP Director. Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesPossess interpersonal skills, listening and communication skills and critical thinking skills. Must be attentive to detail. Strong oral and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills and strong computer skills. High ethical standards and ability to relate to work with a diverse faculty, staff, students and other public persons. Ability to organize and manage individuals as well as organizations, able to plan projects and work schedules.Required Qualifications Master's degree required. Graduate of a CAATE accredited athletic training education program required.Will be frequently away from assigned work desk/phone due to official work responsibilities or travel and requires real time communication with others.Minimum of five years of athletic training experience required (collegiate preferred). Board of Certification (BOC) certified. Eligible for licensure as an athletic trainer in the State of Georgia. Current professional rescuer/CPR/AED.Preferred Qualifications CSCS preferred.Experience with clinical supervision of athletic training students is preferred.
