Join up with action pact, an agency that was built on the promise that every family should have an opportunity for success.The Position:We are recruiting for a full time Cook will be responsible for providing assistance in all areas of food preparation according to planned/approved CACFP guidelines; serving clients; ordering, receiving and storing supplies; completing necessary paperwork and inventory control; and maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen and equipment.At a minimum, a high school diploma or GED. Experience is preferred. If you are looking for work that is challenging and meaningful, come join our team!Duties of the Cook include providing assistance in all areas of food preparation according to planned/approved guidelines; serving clients; receiving and storing supplies; and maintaining clean and orderly kitchen and equipment.Specific Responsibilities:Assist in the preparation of food; cut, peel, chop, slice, etc., various vegetables, meals and other food stuffs using routine and heavy duty kitchen equipmentParticipate in cooking, baking, frying, broiling, etc. using standard or heavy duty stove at appropriate temperature and cooking time as called for by recipeAssist in receiving and storing food and supplies in designated locations; help in maintaining accurate records and inventoriesParticipate in serving clientsClean work area, equipment and utensils, promptly in accordance with daily work routine; wash, scrub, and store in neat and orderly fashion; and keep entire kitchen area, including floors, walls, appliance, storage space following sanitary rules and guidelinesAssist in instructing volunteers assigned as kitchen helpParticipate in staff meetings, and training sessions as requiredCommunicate and problem solve with Center CoordinatorEnsure meals are prepared on scheduleMaintain good personal appearance and hygieneMaintain confidentialityPerform other related duties as required or assignedRequirements:Education: Must be able to read and write and understand general instructions in carrying out work assignments.
