Previous coaching/playing experience required.DutiesDirectly responsible to the athletic director and head coaches.Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.Maintain accurate records of squad lists injury reports scores of games (report to athletic office and newspapers as requested) incident reports physical examinations.Be available during the school year to lend assistance in guidance and counseling to his/her team.Recommends purchase of equipment supplies as appropriate.Oversees the safety conditions of the facility of the area in which the assigned sport is played at all times that students are present.Make regular checks of the safety of all equipment.Enforce discipline and encourage sportsmanship like behavior at all times. These standards are those set down by the principal and head coach.Responsible for enforcing the rules set forth by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.Organize and post a daily schedule for the team and assistant coaches.Performs all other duties as the principal may deem to be in the best interest of the sport pupil and school.QualificationsPrevious experience in either high school college or both is desirable.Knowledge of strength and conditioning concepts and ability to instruct players in all facets of sport.Evidence of ability to get along with pupils parents colleagues and other citizens.Bachelors degree from an accredited college preferred.Equal Opportunity EmployerSalem Public School District is committed to maintaining a work and learning environment free from discrimination on the basis of race color religion national origin pregnancy gender identity sexual orientation marital/civil union status ancestry place of birth age citizenship status veteran status political affiliation genetic information or disability as defined and required by state and federal laws.
