Position SummaryThis position incorporates a split research-clinic audiology role. Approximately 60% effort is devoted to responsibilities as Research Audiologist in the Hearing Research Laboratory co-directed by Drs. John Grose and Emily Buss. The lab investigates auditory perception and neural processing across the lifespan. Current projects span infant to older adult populations covering typical hearing development disorders such as auditory neuropathy and the effects of aging. We combine behavioral psychophysics otoacoustic emissions auditory evoked potentials and speech in noise paradigms to answer fundamental and translational questions in hearing science. The Research Audiologist oversees the day to day conduct of human subjects studies in the lab including participant interactions ensuring the smooth operation of complex protocols and equipment and upholding rigorous data standards. This role blends hands on testing with project management Approximately 40% of this position is devoted to responsibilities as a Clinical Audiologist with the UNC Hospitals audiology department and involves direct clinical care based on the current clinical needs and candidate preferences.Required Qualifications Competencies And ExperienceAdvanced degree (M.S. Au.D Ph.D.) in hearing science audiology neuroscience psychology or related field Currently have or be eligible to apply for a North Carolina Audiology license Demonstrated proficiency with audiometric equipment (e.g. clinical audiometers sound booths) and electrophysiological systems (e.g. EEG ABR ) Experience recruiting scheduling and interacting with human participants across all age groups Strong organizational and multitasking skills with meticulous attention to data integrity and protocol adherence Excellent oral and written communication; ability to work empathetically with participants and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and one or more data analysis environments ( MATLAB Python R)Preferred Qualifications Competencies And ExperienceDoctorate in Audiology (Au.D) or Ph.D. with auditory research focus Prior hands on experience in a human subjects hearing science lab Familiarity with REDCap or similar electronic data capture platforms Background in statistical analysis of psychophysical or electrophysiological data Record of conference presentations or peer reviewed publications Experience supervising Au.D. graduate student cliniciansRequired Experience:Staff IC Key Skills Catering,Apache Commons,Architectural Design,Human Resources Administration,Accident Investigation Employment Type : Full Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
