Job DescriptionJob DescriptionHEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (GENERAL) Duties and Responsibilities of a Heavy Equipment OperatorProvide support to successful completion of construction and engineering workOperate all heavy equipment like excavators, earth movers, bulldozers, front-end loaders, and other related equipment.Perform clearing, grubbing, excavating, compacting, rough grading, and fine grading operations using the available equipment.Operate heavy equipment safely and carefully, especially on crowded job-sitesPerform periodic safety, maintenance or servicing checks to ensure proper functioning of the equipment.Perform minor repair work on-siteInform and advise the management or repairmen for major repairs or maintenanceDrive and control the equipmentPerform road work, excavation work, lifting work, etc.Respond to signals and directions by the staff and work in coordination with themMaintain proper coordination and cooperation with the road and transport system while driving/working, so that the normal activities are not disrupted.Operate the equipment manually and also through the use of electronic, GPS, or technical methods of operation.Work in adherence to safe practices, procedures, work site or traffic laws.Report to the superintendent and follow instructionsPerform other duties, as and when assignedKnowledge RequirementA heavy equipment operator must possess knowledge to perform his/her job satisfactorily. The essential criteria must include the knowledge of:Heavy equipment operationMaintenance and repair of heavy and power-driven equipmentNew methods and techniques of operation and the parts of the equipmentWorkplace safety practicesBoth manual and electronic operationsMinimum Experience RequirementDozer: Clearing and Grading - 3 yearsExcavator/Backhoe - 3 yearsEarthmover, Scraper - 2 yearsMotor grader - 3 yearsOff-road Truck - 2 yearsSkills and AbilitiesMust have physical ability to stand strenuous and dangerous work environmentalPossess physical strength to operate heavy and power-driven equipment for extended periods of timeAble to lift and carry up to 50 lbs routinelyAble to safely climb on and off large pieces of equipmentAble to work in teamsAble to communicate and interact both verbally and writtenA keen eye to details and good decision making skillsManage to handle emergency situations, work pressure and stressAble to complete work projects on time and in an effective mannerPossess problem solving skillsHonest and trustworthyCan work independently with minimal supervisionGood interpersonal skillsFlexible to work during odd hours and to work more than 40 hours per week  Company DescriptionRichardson Construction Co. has been moving dirt since 1971.
