This internship provides a unique opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the Heavy Highway Civil and Horizontal construction industry through a hands-on learning approach. Each internship is customized to align with the students interests field of study and relevant experience. Interns are paired with a company mentor for guidance and support gaining valuable real-world exposure across multiple divisions of an industry-leading construction company.Essential Job Duties/ResponsibilitiesParticipates in on-site field operations and learn various aspects of heavy highway and civil constructionMaintains acceptable attendance and punctuality following the work schedule and notifying supervisors of any absences in advanceFollows all safety rules and compliance requirements including using proper protective equipment and reporting hazardsSupports team members with routine project tasks under supervisionCommunicates clearly and respectfully with supervisors and coworkersDemonstrates professionalism including appropriate workplace behavior attire and etiquetteFollows instructions and completes assigned tasks accurately and on timeAsks questions and seek clarification when unsure of how to complete a taskShows willingness to learn accepts feedback and develops new skillsUses company equipment and materials responsibly adhering to guidelinesParticipates in meetings or training sessions as requiredObserves and learns workplace processes relevant to the career fieldOther Duties/ResponsibilitiesAssists others in department as needed.Performs other related duties as assigned.Required Skills and AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively including the ability to speak listen and write clearlyAbility to follow instructions and learn new tasks quicklyDemonstrates attention to detail when completing assignmentsDisplays a positive attitude and willingness to learn new tools processes and conceptsDemonstrates problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities at a basic level appropriate for entry-level work.Basic math skills depending on the nature of assigned tasksAbility to demonstrate Brooks Construction FIRST values (Family Integrity Respect Safety and Teamwork)Education and ExperienceMust be currently enrolled as a high school sophomore junior or seniorAny prior construction or technical experience is a plus but not requiredPhysical RequirementsLifting/Carrying: Up to 50 lbs frequentlyPushing/Pulling: Up to 50 lbs frequentlyMovement Requirements: Frequent standing walking bending squatting kneeling twisting and keyboarding; occasional sitting climbing crawling and reaching above shoulder levelUse of Hands: Frequent use of hands for keyboarding and handling materialsEnvironmental Exposure: Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat dust wet surfaces uneven terrain and standing on concrete; frequent travel; frequent work in both indoor and outdoor environmentsWorking EnvironmentCombination of fieldwork and office work depending on rotation assignments.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneHow to Apply:Online: Visit to access our online Employment Application by clicking View Open Positions and Apply Now!.
