Our employees take pride in making a meaningful impact through high-quality engineering solutions and community-focused projects.We are seeking an Entry-Level Highway Engineer to join our Highway Engineering Group in our State College, PA office.Our team works on a variety of projects within the mid-Atlantic region (PA, MD, DE, VA) and occasionally on national and international projects. Typical clients include state and local transportation agencies such as PennDOT, MDOT, and VDOT as well as private-sector partners. Project scopes range from small-scale intersection improvements to complex interchange and major corridor projects.Responsibilities include:Assist in the development of roadway alignments, profiles, and typical sectionsPrepare construction plans for roadway geometrics, signing and pavement markings, maintenance of traffic (MOT) and erosion and sediment controlPerform drainage and stormwater design tasks in coordination with senior engineersUtilize design software (e.g., Microstation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD) to produce plan sets and 3D modelsSupport preparation of construction specifications, quantity calculations and cost estimatesContribute to technical reports, studies, and design documentationAssist in preparing materials for client meetings, public meetings, and agency submissionsCoordinate with internal design disciplines (structures, traffic, utilities) to integrate design elementsParticipate in occasional site visits for data collection, field verification, or design supportCoordinate with senior engineers on permitting requirements and utility researchWork under the guidance of experienced engineers who will provide mentoring and support toward your professional growthRequirements:Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program0-4 years of relevant experienceRelevant internship/job experience related to transportation engineering preferredAbility to effectively communicate orally/written at all levels of the organizationAbility to handle multiple assignmentsExperience working with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
