Histology Technician at Pride Health

Pride Health is hiring a Travel Histology Technician to support our client’s medical facility in Royal Oak, MI. This is a 3+ month contract with the possibility of a contract hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Title: Travel Histology Technician

Location: Royal Oak, MI 48073

Pay Rate: $55-$52.5/hr. - Weekly- $2000 - $2100

Duration: 3+ Months

Shift: Mon - Fri 2:30pm - 11:00pm

*Pay Rate is based on experience and educational qualifications.

Responsibilities

1. Prepare slides for pathologists to examine under a microscope, following lab policies and procedures.
2. Handle paperwork related to specimen accessioning and reporting.
3. Ensure tissues are processed correctly.
4. Perform embedding and microtomy for selected specimen types under supervision.
5. Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining.
6. Cover stained slides manually or using automated equipment.
7. Perform special stains when approved by the Histology Manager/Supervisor.
8. Clean and maintain basic laboratory equipment.
9. File completed tissue blocks and slides.
10. Follow laboratory quality control policies and record all QC activities.
11. Follow all safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards.
12. Comply with local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
13. Keep the work area clean and organized.
14. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Option 1: Associate degree (A.A. or A.S.) with at least 1 year of relevant experience in the last 10 years.
2. Option 2: High school diploma (or equivalent) with 5 years of full-time experience as a Histotechnician in the last 10 years.
3. Certification: HT (ASCP) certification, ASCP eligibility, or 5 years of full-time relevant experience in the last 10 years.
