JOB DESCRIPTION

Home Health Physical Therapy Assistant, PRN

Works under general supervision to provide technical assistance in administration of physical therapy treatment to patients. Responsible for providing physical therapy services for patients in strict compliance with plan of care developed by professional physical therapist.

Required Education: Successful completion of a two-year program for Physical Therapist Assistants, which meets standards established and approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.

Experience: No experience required

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current BLS certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC). Upon Hire
  • Valid Texas Drivers License and proof of insurance required Upon Hire

Preferred Experience: Home Health experience

JOB DUTIES:

  • Implementing treatment programs that include therapeutic exercises, gait training and techniques, ADL training, administration of the therapeutic heat and cold, ultrasound, electric current, and goniometric measurement.
  • Modify treatment techniques as indicated in the plan of care.
  • Obtain copy of plan of care made by PT and provide care exactly as written.
  • Respond to acute changes.
  • Teach patient/caregiver to perform selected treatment procedures.
  • Identify architectural barriers.
  • Demonstrate appropriate written, oral, and non-verbal communication with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrates safe, ethical, and legal practice.
  • Notify supervising PT and Clinical Supervisor of any patient's change in condition.
  • Attend case conferences.
  • Inform supervising PT of last scheduled visit one week prior so that PT can schedule to see patient on the last visit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
