Deer Park School District #414Position: Home Link SpecialistSubstituteHours: Varied as assigned by the building administratorDays: Varied as assigned by the building administratorLocation: Deer Park and ClaytonStart Date: 2025-2026 School YearPurpose Statement:A Deer Park Home Link Specialist facilitates learning for the students enrolled in the Deer Park Home Link program.Essential Responsibilities:Facilitate an educational environment conducive to the learning environment of assigned students.Maintains and monitors classroom discipline and uses effective classroom management skills.Confers with students parents or guardians oversight consultant and other staff maintaining an open positive relationship.Works with an oversight consultant and parents in implementing class goals.Entering student attendance into Home Links Alex computer systemAttend all required staff meetings and trainings.Knowledge and Skills:Effective oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated skills in human relations and conflict management.Supports techniques that meet the diverse needs of students.Demonstrated skill in the use of technology.Evidence of ability to develop positive and collaborative relationships with students staffparents and the publicDemonstrated appreciation of and sensitivity to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic cultural and ethnic backgrounds different learning styles and various disabilitiesCommitment and adherence to confidentiality and other professional standardsPhysical Demands/Working ConditionsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. It is not anticipated that this position will be benefits eligible.Retirement Benefits: Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over a 12-month period are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services. It is not anticipated that this position will be retirement-eligible.As required by RCW 28A.400.303 school district employees are required to complete a Washington State Patrol (WSP) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background check.
