Description and FunctionsOpen Until FilledGENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Veterans Home of Wyoming (VHW) is now offering an excellent opportunity for compassionate individuals to serve our Veterans and begin a career as a health care professional. This position is specifically intended for job advancement to a Certified Nurse Aide position at the new cottages on the VHW campus.This position requires a caring and compassionate person to assist in the preparation and service of meals and snacks to people who live at the cottages. This position will also assist in keeping the living and sleeping areas clean as well as providing laundry services.Within the first year of employment this person will commit to completing and passing both a Certified Nurse Aide class and the State certification exam for a Certified Nurse Aide. The VHW will pay for all CNA class and certification exam expenses. (Conditions apply. Click here for detailed information oryou can watch this short video to learn about our benefit package!Human Resource Contact: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.Prepare cook and serve all meals and snacksWork with the Dietary Manager to plan meals and coordinate food ordersFollows regulations related to safe food handling and sanitizing kitchen and food prep areasPerforms housekeeping and laundry servicesIdentifying reporting and meeting with clinical support team members to correct any issuesAssists with answering call lights by performing duties within their scope of practice or notifying the appropriate team member of the Veterans needsQualificationsPREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:**Must be able to obtain a Nurse Aide Certification within the first 12 months of employmentKNOWLEDGE:Ability to attend and pass a CNA course and State CNA examination within 12 months of hireAbility to successfully pass the food handling courseGood oral and written communication skillsAbility to work as part of a teamTime management and organization skillsKnowledge of cottage policies and proceduresMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Substitution:1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Human Services)Certificates Licenses Registrations:Must be able to obtain CNA Certification within 12 months of hireOREducation:Associates Degree (typically in Healthcare)Experience:No prior experience requiredCertificates Licenses Registrations:Must be able to obtain CNA Certification within 12 months of hireNecessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Lift medical/patient equipment of varying sizes and weights up to about 50 lbs.Work evenings nights and /or weekends as scheduled.Must be able to work with different types of food and spices (ie meat dairy cinnamon pepper)NOTES:FLSA: Non-ExemptA background check including the taking of fingerprints will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation the Department of Family Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.For our residents health and protection annual influenza vaccination is required and annual testing for tuberculosis.Employees of this facility will be expected to follow all rules and requirements established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services regarding COVID-19. Pre-employment drug testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions (direct patient care positions are considered safety-sensitive). Failure to complete this requirement will require reimbursement of the bonus with the funds deducted from the final pay.Internal candidates will be required to remain in the position for a minimum of (1) year from the promotion date.
