An Honors College Specialist assists in tracking and evaluating students' honors academic progress, as well as guiding them in determining students' academic interests and objectives by helping students locate and navigate the resources they need to successfully complete their honors requirements.Major responsibilities include:Help assigned students plan and map out their path to honors completionMonitor student progress in order to intervene, guide, and recommend solutions to academic difficultiesMaintain current knowledge of courses/majors offered, prerequisites, general education and graduation requirements, university procedures, rules and regulations, and other student servicesMaintain student recordsPlan and execute specialist-related events for honors studentsOther job duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications (Required):Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent requiredStrong communication skills, both orally and in writingService-oriented: Intrinsic desire to help others succeed in reaching their goalsAbility to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with studentsExperience with observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from relevant sources, and maintaining student records.Strong computer skills and ability to quickly adapt to new technologyMotivation for delivering empathetic, compassionate, consistent, accurate, developmental, student-focused, appreciative, and honest advisingMust be able to work a flexible schedule, including days with possible eveningsAdditional Considerations:Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience working with Honors studentsPreferred Qualifications: Prior experience working with student populations preferred.Prior experience designing or running student events preferred.Special Instructions to Applicants: Anticipated rate of $20-$23/hour for 10 hours per week.Initial review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
