Job DescriptionJob DescriptionHot Food Production - Cook40 hours per week 10-month positionShift: 12;30pm-9:00 pm Thursday to Monday (Tuesday & Wednesday off)Summary: Under the direction of the Executive Chef, Hot Food Production is responsible for a variety of tasks in relation to creating on trend food options from scratch and cooking short-order or batch style service. See job description for a complete list of requirements and responsibilities.Required Qualifications:Possess a high school diploma or equivalent GEDPossess a formal culinary education or equivalent experience in high-volume dining environmentsPossess math and reading skillsPossess an acute understanding of all food allergens and the ability to exclude them from food optionsExperience cooking short order or batch style serviceAbility to create on-trend food options from scratch while following recipes Ability to garnish catered dishesAbility to follow instructionsAbility to function in a high-stress environment Ability to lift 50 poundsAbility to continuously stand and walk for the duration of an assigned shiftAdditional Responsibilities:Complete and return all temp, sanitation, and production logs to the manager at the end of each shift Clean all work areas and complete prep work 15 minutes before end of the shift to allow the manager or lead cook/crew leader to double-check work areasMaintain clean prep areas, coolers, shelves, and floors in all work areas Ensure that all food labels are accurate and correctInform the manager of damaged and unsafe equipment that needs to be repaired or replaced Address client or student concerns about foodWork catering as deemed necessary for operational needsBenefits:Health InsuranceDentalVisionFSA/ HSA/ FSA Dependent Care Employer Paid Basic Life & LTDVoluntary LifeRetirement PlanPaid Time OffEmployee Assistance ProgramParental Leave Notice of Non-Discrimination In keeping with its commitment to equal rights since it was founded in 1837, Knox College particularly welcomes applications from members of underrepresented groups.
