Brief: Supervises and coordinates patient care services after hours. Supervises administrative responsibilities of the medical center, in consultation with the administrator on-call, as assigned or directed. All team members of Southeast Georgia Health System will promote a culture of safety, follow established policies, and adhere to all state and federal regulatory requirements, Joint Commission requirements, and national patient safety standards.

The House Manager supervises and coordinates patient care services after hours. Supervises administrative responsibilities of the medical center, in consultation with the administrator on-call, as assigned or directed. All team members of Southeast Georgia Health System will promote service excellence by developing and maintaining positive relationships with customers, other team members, and the medical staff and will ensure the highest quality of care by performing their responsibilities according to the highest professional standards.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Makes rounds regularly as indicated at least once per shift. Maintains high visibility through clinical rounds for all areas.
  • Participates in the assessment of staffing needs. Utilizes staffing guides along with personal observation to maintain appropriate staffing levels to meet patient care needs. Monitors all staffing schedules, notifies Unit Manager or designee of necessary revisions.
  • Maintains clinical proficiency and readily assists units' staffs when indicated.
  • Effectively orients new house managers. Participates in recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Implements and interprets established policies and procedures, standards of performance, productivity, performance improvement, safety, environmental, infection control and other regulatory requirements.
  • Investigates policy violations and initiates corrective action in collaboration with Nurse Manager and/or Director.
  • Utilizes interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to maintain good working relationships with staff, physicians, departments, public agencies, and other organizations. Demonstrates effective communication, consultation, negotiation, and collaboration skills with members of the health care team and other stakeholders.
  • Assists patients and families as needed in stressful, crisis situations. Assesses incidents and assures completion of incident reports.
  • Reports defective supplies and equipment.
  • Participates in the periodic review and evaluation of the quality and appropriateness of nursing care. Identifies opportunities for performance improvement and develops plan to support. Support Nursing Leadership in coordinating, facilitating, and managing change.
Qualifications

Education: Associates or bachelor's degree in nursing required. BSN obtained within 5 years from date of hire or transfer.

Licensure: Current RN license to practice in the state of Georgia required.

Experience: 3 years experience as Unit Manager, Relief Supervisor or Clinical Leader is required. National certification as clinically appropriate preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • American Heart Association BLS Certification and ACLS Certification required within first week of orientation and maintained throughout employment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices and techniques.
  • Familiarity with patient care equipment and products.
