Housekeeping Coordinator at Zepf
JOB DESCRIPTION
Zepf Center has been serving the Lucas County community for 50 years. We are the leading provider of behavioral health and substance use disorder services in Northwest Ohio. Services include adult and child psychiatric, substance abuse, case management, residential, Crisis Care, and therapy programs, as well as career development and wellness services. Zepf Center also offers primary care medical services to our patients to contribute to their continuum of care. Zepf Center is a trauma-informed agency and environment for both patients and staff.
General Summary:
The Housekeeping Coordinator is responsible for overseeing daily housekeeping operations to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment of Zepf Center property for staff, clients, and visitors. This role supervises housekeeping staff, manages schedules, ensures compliance with health and safety standards, and supports a culture of accountability and excellence. By the very nature of housekeeping, this individual must be a flexible and independent worker to work alongside housekeeping staff. The Housekeeping Coordinator must be resourceful and highly responsive in addressing any housekeeping concerns that is brought to the attention of the Department Director or is discovered by any other employee. On-call responsiveness may be required in case of emergencies. May require evening, weekend, or on-call availability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
- Oversee daily cleaning and sanitation of all facilities
- This position will train housekeeping staff to meet cleaning standard established by Zepf Center Management
- Ensure adherence to established cleaning protocols and quality standards
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities to ensure cleanliness and safety
- Respond to urgent custodial needs, spills, or facility issues
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, health department, and organizational safety standards
- Maintain proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
- Promote infection control practices, especially in healthcare or behavioral health settings
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure staff training
Inventory & Equipment:
- Monitor and maintain inventory of custodial supplies and equipment
- Order supplies as needed and manage budget responsibly
- Ensure proper maintenance and repair of custodial equipment
Communication & Coordination
- Collaborate with leadership, clinical teams, and other departments to meet facility needs
- Communicate effectively regarding facility concerns, priorities, and updates
- Support special projects such as deep cleaning, moves, or event setup
Quality Assurance
- Develop and implement quality control measures
- Track and report on performance metrics and improvement initiatives
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness that support organizational reputation and client care

- Supervise, train, and evaluate custodial staff
- Model task completion and role responsibilities along side other housekeeping employees
- Develop and manage staff schedules, assignments, and coverage
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action when needed

Position Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 3–5 years of custodial or facilities experience required
- 1–2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or institutional settings preferred
- Ability to frequently walk, stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying environmental conditions
