The employee may also be responsible for the independent operation of fingerprinting duties located at a MD CJIS MVA office on a short-term (temporary substitute) basis when needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.Experience: One year of experience examining classifying and identifying fingerprints. Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in fingerprint identification classification or fingerprint identification specialty codes in the fingerprint identification field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS1. Experience operating an electronic live scan unit to take fingerprints for licensing and/or employment.2. Experience using the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) central repository or the Maryland Automated Fingerprint Identification System (MAFIS). LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS1. Candidates for this classification are subject to a criminal records check before a permanent appointment can be made. A criminal conviction record may be grounds for rejection of the applicant by the hiring agency.2. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in 24 hours a day and therefore must provide a telephone number where they can be reached.
