DescriptionAssistant Volleyball CoachSalary: $4,000 stipendClassification: Part-TimeReports to: Director of AthleticsOlympic College is currently in search of Assistant Volleyball Coach. Duties will include, but not limited to; assisting the head coach in all phases of an intercollegiate volleyball program, recruiting within conference guidelines, teaching advanced volleyball skills, assisting with the monitoring of individual’s academic progress, overseeing transportation of the team, participate in fundraising activities, encouraging and demonstrating good sportsmanship, and processing of appropriate institutional and conference paperwork.This position is responsible for enhancing the student-athlete experience by promoting leadership, discipline, and personal growth, while assisting in the efficient operation of the volleyball program. Through active involvement in daily activities—including training, travel, and competition logistics—the Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach and Athletic Director’s broader focus on community engagement, strategic planning, and departmental advancement. This role is instrumental in cultivating a positive, inclusive, and high-performing environment aligned with the college’s commitment to student success and holistic development. Essential FunctionsThe Assistant Volleyball Coach supports the leadership and management of all facets of the Olympic College Volleyball program, with a focus on excellence in both athletics and academics. Core responsibilities include:Assisting in the design and implementation of training and competition schedulesSupporting recruitment and retention efforts for student-athletesHelping manage program resources and operational needsEnsuring compliance with institutional and conference policiesPromoting academic progress and personal development of student-athletesCollaborating with athletic staff and campus partners to align program goals with college valuesThis role serves as a mentor and role model, promoting a culture of integrity, teamwork, and resilience.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Associate degree or higherMinimum of three years of coaching experience in volleyball, preferably at the collegiate level.Demonstrated experience in managing program operations, including budgeting, scheduling, and regulatory compliance.Proven success in assisting with recruiting and developing student-athletes in alignment with academic and athletic standards.Desired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in Sports Management, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a closely related field.Prior experience working within the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) or a similar collegiate athletic association is highly desirable.Successful applicants will be able toEncourage and demonstrate good sportsmanshipCommit to a philosophy promoting student successAttend practices and games on weekday afternoons and weekendsInteract successfully with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural, geographic, and socioeconomic backgrounds Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Olympic College mission, vision , and valuesAdditional InformationTerms of EmploymentAssistant Coaches will be paid $4,000 of stipend.Conditions of EmploymentPrior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted.
