Human Resources Generalist
The Human Resources Generalist supports the overall success of the organization by providing comprehensive HR support across all core functions and acting as a key bridge between corporate Human Resources and the plant operations team. This role ensures consistent application of HR policies and programs, supports employees and leaders at the site, and helps maintain a compliant, efficient, and people-focused workplace.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a Human Resources business partner for the facility, acting as a subject matter expert on company policies, procedures, benefits, and employee programs for the location.
- Maintain and update HRIS records accurately and compile reports from the HRIS database as needed to support HR operations and decision-making.
- Coordinate and maintain all manual departmental records to ensure accurate and organized HR documentation.
- Assist in coordinating non-exempt recruiting efforts, including advertising open positions, scheduling and conducting interviews, evaluating candidates, performing reference checks, and supporting the hiring process.
- Schedule and confirm results of pre-employment drug tests and ensure all required steps in the hiring process are completed.
- Conduct new employee orientation to ensure new hires understand company policies, procedures, benefits, and workplace expectations.
- Assist employees with benefit orientation, enrollment, and change reporting, ensuring accurate and timely updates.
- Process all performance appraisals and status changes, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and properly recorded.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws governing employment and maintain current knowledge of the labor market and relevant employment regulations.
- Assist in safety and health administration, including participation on the Safety Committee, conducting or supporting accident investigations, preparing and submitting reports, maintaining OSHA 300 logs, verifying workers' compensation benefits, preparing incident charts, and coordinating light duty work as needed.
- Support HR policy and program development, implementation, and maintenance to ensure consistent and effective HR practices.
- Conduct research and provide data and analysis to the Head of Human Resources for regular reports and special projects.
- Coordinate the exit interview process, including scheduling, conducting or supporting interviews, and documenting feedback.
- Perform other related HR duties as assigned to support the needs of the plant operations and corporate HR teams.
Essential Skills
- 3+ years of experience in Human Resources within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Demonstrated HRIS experience, including maintaining records and generating reports.
- Proven experience in employee relations, including supporting employees and leaders in resolving workplace issues.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw sound conclusions.
- Experience systematizing process flows to improve efficiency in HR operations.
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- High level of conscientiousness and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.
- Resourceful, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.

- Ability to serve as a trusted HR partner and subject matter expert on HR policies, procedures, and benefits.
- Comfort working with data, reports, and documentation to support HR decision-making.
- Experience participating in or supporting safety programs, safety committees, and incident investigations.
- Capability to support the full employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and exit processes.
- Demonstrated initiative in improving HR processes and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
Work Environment
The role is based in a clean, quiet, and comfortable manufacturing facility, with a dedicated office located in the front area of the building. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule on first shift hours, providing a stable and predictable workweek. The dress code is business casual, reflecting a professional yet comfortable environment. The Human Resources Generalist works closely with both corporate HR and plant operations, engaging regularly with employees on the production floor and in office settings while leveraging HRIS and other HR tools to support daily operations.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Akron, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $70000.00/yr.
