FLSA Type: Non-Exempt Full-Time Benefit EligibleDepartment: Human ResourcesWork Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 am 4:30 pmReports to: Human Resources DirectorPay Range: $31-$34Pay Grade: 10Work Modality: Primary work on-site with occasional remote workJob SummaryAs the Human Resources Generalist you will assist with the day-to-day human resources functions and duties under the direction and support of the HR director. The HR Generalist will be responsible for the following assignments: workers compensation employee relations compensation new employee orientation employee benefits and safety. This position offers the latitude to work with leadership and staff across the organization and is a great opportunity for an HR professional with future leadership aspirations.Essential ResponsibilitiesConducts carrier invoice reconciliation of employee benefits (medical dental vision life insurance/AD & D and COBRA)Manages all aspects of leaves of absence from commencement to conclusionAssist HR Director with recruitment activitiesProcesses all new hire pre-employment screening and onboarding; facilitates new employee orientation program; conducts exit interviewsIssues and deactivates employee access badgesCounsels advises and provides guidance to CCBC management and staff within scope of knowledgeUpdates job descriptions as directedConducts wage and benefit studies as directedMaintains compliance federal state and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices and assists the HR director in reviewing policies and practices to maintain complianceManages all aspects of workers compensation including but not limited to investigating injuries collaborating with department leadership to address safety issues coordinating medical network provider visits maintaining the Workers Compensation annual claims history following claims from commencement to conclusion maintain appropriate communication with the injured employee employees direct supervisor HR Director Workers Compensation carrier and other stakeholders as requiredProvides ergonomic assessments and recommendations to staffServes as CCBCs Safety Officer:provides quarterly content and maintain tracking of safety tailgate meetingsensures SDS binders are currentensures safety-related SOPs are accurate and current.prepares files and posts annual OSHA Form 300Aoversees periodic department safety inspections are being conductedadministers the annual required cGMP trainingOversees CCBCs emergency communication systemMaintains all electronic HR files including personnel leaves terminations etc.Demonstrates alignment with and adherence to the companys core values in all interactions decisions and work activities; serves as a role model for fostering a positive respectful and ethical workplace cultureEmployees in this role are entitled and expected to take compliant meal and rest periods in accordance with California law.This position requires consistent on-time attendance in accordance with company policy. Excessive tardiness or absenteeism may impact performance and employment status.Note: The duties and responsibilities described above are not a comprehensive list and additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time; or the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands.RequirementsQualifications and SkillsEducation/Licenses/ExperienceBachelors degree in Human Resources Management Business or Organizational Development requiredSHRM-CP and/or HRCI certification preferredA minimum of 2 years HR generalist experience requiredExperience working with Paylocity preferredExperience facilitating meetings of small to medium size groups preferredExperience conducting employee orientation or short training sessions preferredExperience serving in a safety capacity preferredMust have a valid California drivers license and a clean driving history with no major violations in the last five yearsSkillsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite requiredStrong oral and written communication skills requiredStrong analytical and problem-solving skills requiredExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail requiredExcellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines requiredAbility to act with integrity professionalism and confidentiality requiredThorough knowledge of California employment-related laws and regulations requiredPhysical RequirementsMust be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionallyAbility to sit for extended periods (e.g. desk work meetings)Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing writing using a mouse and operating standard office equipmentOccasional standing and walkingClose vision for reading reports screens documents spreadsheets and emailsWorking ConditionsIndoor climate-controlled environmentLow to moderate noise levelThe Central California Blood Center is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
