Job Overview:The Human Resource Manager of Alexandria Pest Services, Inc. (APS) is responsible for overseeing and executing all human resource functions to support the company's operational success. This position ensures APS attracts, retains, and supports top talent while maintaining full compliance with employment laws and fostering a positive work environment.Objectives:The HR Manager will:Lead recruitment and onboarding effortsMaintain accurate and compliant employee recordsOversee employee performance management and benefits administrationProvide coaching and HR support to managers and staffEnsure APS complies with HR regulations and maintains a productive and motivated workforceKey Responsibilities:Recruitment & HiringOversee full-cycle recruitment: posting jobs, screening resumes, conducting interviewsCoordinate with department heads to identify staffing needsStay current on HR best practices to attract high-quality candidatesOnboarding & OffboardingFacilitate onboarding of new hires and offboarding of departing employeesIssue uniforms and equipment and ensure proper tracking/updatingMaintain employee onboarding and exit checklistsProcess employee status changes and terminationsEmployee Records & ComplianceMaintain organized employee files, benefits records, and personnel documentsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local employment lawsDevelop and maintain effective filing and retrieval systemsBenefits AdministrationManage APS health, dental, and life insurance programsCommunicate benefit changes to staff and coordinate with agents/providersAdminister 401(k) program: employee communication, coordination with provider, reportingMaintain employee leave calendar and track PTOHealth, Safety, & Incident ReportingManage and document incident reports, worker's comp and auto claimsComplete and submit OSHA 300 logs as requiredTraining & LicensingCoordinate required training for employees, especially for technician licensingEnsure company and individual technician licenses are currentSubmit renewal applications on timePolicy & Handbook ManagementDevelop, maintain, and update APS Employee HandbookCommunicate updates and ensure understanding among staffAdvise managers and employees on HR policies and proceduresAnnual ReportingComplete and submit annual reports (DC, VA, MD DBE/MBE, Vets4212, etc.)Ensure compliance with federal and state reporting requirementsEmployee Engagement & SupportCoordinate employee events, recognition programs, birthdays, and anniversariesProvide HR coaching and support to employees and managementServe as the first point of contact for HR-related questionsAdditional DutiesConduct special projects as assignedAnalyze new laws and HR trends to recommend internal adjustmentsRequired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Strong understanding of HR laws, policies, and best practicesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsSuperior organizational, time management, and analytical skillsAbility to handle sensitive information with discretionStrong interpersonal and leadership skillsComfortable advising management and coaching employeesProficient with Microsoft Office Suite; HR software knowledge a plusEducation & Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's in HR or related field preferredMinimum 2 years of human resources experience, preferably in a small business environmentWork Environment:Office-based, working on a computer in a climate-controlled environmentOccasional high-pressure situations or urgent deadlinesRegular office hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.Collaborative team environment with cross-department communication
Compensation details: 26-32 Hourly Wage
