HR Manager

Mural Group is partnering with a long-standing industrial manufacturer to hire an HR Manager for a unionized manufacturing facility in Dunkirk, NY.

This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who thrives in a plant environment and enjoys balancing employee relations, compliance, leadership coaching, and workforce development. The right person will serve as a trusted advisor to plant leadership while ensuring HR processes, investigations, and employee programs are executed consistently and professionally.

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Lead employee relations activities for a unionized manufacturing workforce
  • Conduct workplace investigations involving harassment, discrimination, attendance, performance, and policy violations
  • Partner with leadership to ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations
  • Serve as the primary HR resource for employee concerns, conflict resolution, and corrective actions

Leadership Partnership

  • Coach supervisors and managers on employee relations, performance management, documentation, and workplace issues
  • Provide guidance on complex personnel decisions and organizational challenges
  • Help establish accountability and consistency across the operation
  • Act as a strategic business partner to plant leadership

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop a small HR team supporting both hourly and salaried employees
  • Mentor and develop direct reports while improving HR processes and execution
  • Create structure, procedures, and action plans that improve departmental effectiveness

Talent & Community Engagement

  • Support workforce development initiatives and community outreach efforts
  • Build relationships with schools, workforce organizations, and local community partners
  • Help strengthen the company's employment brand and attract future talent
  • Support recruiting efforts for salaried positions as needed

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • 5+ years of HR experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment
  • Experience handling employee relations investigations and workplace conflict resolution
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and HR best practices
  • Experience coaching leaders and influencing decisions across an organization
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Preferred

  • Union manufacturing experience
  • Experience supporting hourly production workforces
  • Knowledge of New York employment regulations
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification
