Job Description
PurposeThe Human Resources Benefits Specialist is a full-time year-round ministry-support role dedicated to serving and caring for the employees of Christian Academy School System across both campuses. This position plays a vital part in coordination and in partnership with our third-party provider provides the full range of employee benefits including health dental vision life insurance retirement plans and wellness resources. With a heart to guide and support employees through significant life events such as marriage the birth or adoption of a child medical needs FMLA or changes in family employment the HR Benefits Specialist ensures each staff member is cared for with compassion clarity and excellence. The HR Benefits Specialist champions programs such as the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and wellness programs offering encouragement and resources that strengthen the emotional spiritual and physical well-being of our staff. Located at the Landis Lakes office this position contributes to a Christ-centered culture where employees feel supported valued and equipped to thrive in their calling to impact students for Gods glory.QualificationsThe candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit that exhibits continued growth in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus ChristAgreement with our staff commitment to live and exemplify the highest Christian virtue both in and out of schoolCommitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of FaithAgreement and belief that the Bible is the final authority concerning truth morality and the proper conduct of mankindThe ideal candidate shall possess the following:A bachelors degree in Human Resources or a related field such as Nutrition Fitness or Health is preferred5 years of experience in an HR environment preferredMust have excellent listening skills with a genuine desire to care for and comfort othersHigh proficiency in Google Workspace and strong overall technical aptitudeStrong written and verbal communication skillsA proven commitment to accuracy and the ability to work with confidential informationAccountabilities/ResponsibilitiesAdminister (in partnership with our third-party administrator) various employee benefit programs including health dental vision flexible spending accounts accident and disability life insurance retirement plans and wellness benefitsServe as the primary HRIS system administrator ensuring accurate setup of employee records benefit elections workflows and reportingProvide supportive compassionate guidance during qualifying life events such as marriage birth or adoption loss of coverage family employment transitions FMLA and other leavesAdminister 403(b) retirement plan processes including enrollments contribution changes compliance checks and coordination with plan vendorsFacilitate new hires by ensuring employees receive clear benefit information enrollment timelines and available resourcesMaintain benefit files approve changes ensure seamless payroll integration and maintain compliance with ACA HIPAA FMLA ERISA COBRA and other regulationsAdminister FMLA and other leaves of absence; provide timely notices track deadlines communicate with employees and supervisors and ensure legal complianceCoordinate COBRA and Workers Compensation claims with the third-party administratorComplete I-9 verifications and maintain compliant recordsComplete employment verifications in a timely and confidential mannerPrepare and set up meetings designed to help employees understand benefit programs and wellness resourcesEnsure distribution of required employee notices at hire annually and as neededResearch troubleshoot and resolve benefit and billing issues; reconcile invoices; and maintain accurate up-to-date reportingActively promote the EAP and wellness initiatives that strengthen the physical emotional and spiritual well-being of employeesPrepare and submit required EEOC reporting and other annual compliance reportsProduce annual turnover reports analyze trends and support HR leadership in continuous improvement effortsAdminister and track exit surveys ensuring departing employees feel supported while gathering insights for organizational developmentMaintain audit-ready documentation and support preparation for annual benefit and 403(b) auditsServe as a collaborative member of the HR team supporting departmental projects and initiatives that advance the mission of Christian AcademyApproach each conversation challenge and decision with humility integrity and compassion reflecting Christ in all interactionsResearch and participate in wellness and benefits-related workshops or events to deepen program knowledge and support healthy lifestyle choicesEssential OutcomesMaintain accurate and timely communication with third-party administrators to ensure comprehensive benefit offerings and resolution of discrepanciesEnsure accuracy in benefit billing reporting and employee records across the HRIS and related systemsMaintain complete and accurate benefit and retirement plan records and provide reports and documentation to support annual auditsEnsure compliance with EEOC reporting I-9 requirements and all federal and state employment regulationsAccurately administer and document all 403(b) processes including annual audit preparationProvide timely and accurate employment verificationsProduce annual turnover reports and insights that support strategic staffing decisionsAdminister exit surveys and summarize findings for HR leadershipProvide general HR support contributing to a Christ-centered service-minded environmentProtect confidentiality at all times stewarding sensitive employee information with the utmost integrityMaintain and promote wellness plans including the EAP to support employees in their efforts to improve overall well-beingThe Human Resources Benefits Specialist reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.Required Experience:IC Key Skills Customer Service,Fmla,HIPAA,Microsoft Outlook,Benefits Administration,HRIS,Payroll,Employment & Labor Law,ADP,Human Resources,Phone Etiquette,Workday Employment Type : Full-Time Department / Functional Area: Administration Experience: years Vacancy: 1
