Job Description

The Turners Outdoorsman Hunting Department Manager assists the Store Manager and Assistant Manager in the performance of their duties. Follows the premise of being the business and cultural leader of the store team responsible for achieving sales goals customer satisfaction and profitability growth as well as understanding practicing and being a strong proponent of the Turners brand and the company culture. The Hunting Department Manager is a retail professional role model in attitude and appearance skilled in the art of communication and customer service who possesses the ability to teach these skills to the team and ultimately lead by example.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSResponsible for operations of the DepartmentConducts Sales & Cashier trainingProvides excellent customer service and salesmanshipEffectively advertises and promotes Turners Outdoorsman products and eventsEnsures customers enjoy a full service and high value shopping experienceReceives stock and displays merchandiseReleases customer firearmsSources places and follows up on ordersResponsible for audit records accuracyResponsible for accurately receiving merchandiseResponsible for loading/unloading truck-- lifting up to 50 pounds without assistancePerform other duties as assigned which includes but not limited to covering employee breaks and/or lunches in other departments as neededQUALIFICATIONSHigh school graduate (or GED) required college graduate or some college preferredMust have at least 2 years of prior retail and sales experience in a lead position.Knowledge about Hunting Fishing/Tackle & Shooting Sports.Legally eligible to work in a firearms environment.Must be 18 years or olderCustomer service experienceMay require Certificate of EligibilityPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSResponsible for loading/unloading trucks lifting up to 50 pounds without assistanceMust be able to use both hands when handling a firearmMust be able to use a computer proficiently and grasp instruction to new software programsMust be able to stand sit bend and lift throughout the course of a scheduled shiftTRAVEL REQUIREMENTSOccasional travel is required (approximately 20% of the time-participating in events training seminars corporate meetings if Store Manager is unavailable or opening new store locations as needed)HOURSHours-at least 45 hours per week are required varied-OT may be requiredRequests for time off may or may not be granted during black-out periodsTurners Outdoorsman is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
