Posting Job Description HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic - Weill Cornell The Licensed Engineer ensures efficient and twenty-four-hour operation of equipment and utilities for the hospital's Facilities operation. Inspects buildings, grounds, and systems to ensure the maintenance of service utilities. Personnel understands the interactions required between the Boilers, HVAC equipment, and their effect on operating systems and comfort. Maintains and monitors all hot water, steam, utilities, fire, and fire safety systems by local, state, and federal codes. Responsible for evaluating situations, correcting problems, initiating, and making referrals via phone, email, and text to appropriate specialists, contractors, and departments as necessary. Evaluates and assesses works from prints or drawings. Inspect, monitor, and test mechanical systems associated with lighting, heating, air-Conditioning, plumbing, ventilation, medical air, fire & life Safety, pneumatic tube system, drainage, and water supplies to ensure maintenance. Makes emergency repairs pneumatic, mechanical and electrical systems to prevent or stop interruptions of utility services. Maintains, records, and reports all daily activities by logging all work completed, including any unusual conditions arising during the shift.This is a full time position, Tuesday-Saturday 4pm-12am with rotating holidays, located at NewYork-Presbyterian/ Weill Cornell Hospital.Required CriteriaHigh School Diploma or GED5+ years documented experience in maintenance and repair of HVAC & Refrigeration systemsNew York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Fireguard F-60 required within 6 months of hireNew York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness for Torch use of Flammable Gases G-60 required within 6 months of hireEPA approved certification for proper refrigerant handling practices Universal Type5+ years documented experience in maintenance and repair of HVAC & Refrigeration systemsDemonstrated proficiency in the use of Building Management Systems to resolve temperature change requests. R Must be available for weekends, evenings, nights, holidays, emergencies and scheduled work/outages. R Must adhere to and follow shift coverage procedures.
