We are seeking an experienced HVAC/Facilities Technician to support a mission-critical medical device manufacturing facility with climate-controlled environments. This role ensures the proper functioning of building systems - including HVAC, boilers, generators, chillers, and Building Automation Systems (BAS) - to maintain environmental compliance for sensitive manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background, exceptional problem-solving skills, and an unwavering commitment to high-quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain HVAC systems, boilers, generators, chillers, compressed air, and compressed gas systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Operate and troubleshoot Building Automation Systems (BAS), including sensors, controllers, actuators, and user interfaces.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all critical building infrastructure.
- Conduct regular inspections of HVAC systems and proactively troubleshoot issues before they escalate.
- Maintain environmental conditions - including air pressure, humidity, and temperature - within specified ranges for climate-controlled manufacturing spaces.
- Respond promptly to HVAC emergencies and internal customer complaints; provide timely and effective resolutions.
- Coordinate with vendors and act as liaison between the facility and external HVAC contractors for repairs beyond in-house capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and company policies.
- Support manufacturing operations by ensuring facility readiness, uptime, and minimal disruption.
- Keep detailed records of all maintenance, repairs, and inspections performed on HVAC and building systems.
- Maintain inventory of HVAC equipment and supplies; make recommendations for replacement or upgrades.
- Adhere to scheduled maintenance plans and prioritize tasks according to urgency.
- Continuously evaluate and improve maintenance procedures for HVAC systems.
- Communicate effectively with facility managers and stakeholders, providing regular status updates on HVAC issues.
- Train new employees on HVAC systems, BAS operations, and established maintenance procedures.
- Provide exceptional service to employees and stakeholders by ensuring comfortable, safe, and compliant work environments.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of technician experience in HVAC or facilities maintenance.
- Valid 2nd Class Engineer Boiler License (C2) required; other boiler licenses (e.g., 2B or Chief) may be considered.
- Proficiency in Building Automation Systems (BAS) and familiarity with protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.
- Strong understanding of building operations, including chilled water systems, compressed air/gas systems, and generator support.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high-quality standards and take ownership of facility performance.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Strong customer service orientation with effective communication skills for interfacing with facility managers, team members, and external contractors.
Preferred Skills
- Military experience in facilities or mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with FDA-regulated or GMP manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with hospital utility systems
