Job DescriptionJob DescriptionHVAC TechnicianLocation: Lakewood, COSalary Range: $30 - $36 / hourTarget fill date: Open until filled  Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design is seeking an HVAC Technician on our beautiful, historic campus in Lakewood, CO. This individual is responsible for a variety of tasks which could include any combination of the following: set up new HVAC systems including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ventilation systems, and ductwork, inspect HVAC systems and their components (e.g., compressors, condensers, evaporators) perform routine checks and preventive maintenance on systems to ensure efficiency and longevity (e.g., changing filters, cleaning coils), diagnose and fix problems such as leaks, faulty wiring, broken thermostats, or refrigerant issues.Occasional nights and weekends are required. May need to take 24 hour calls. Candidates must live within commuting distance of our campus and have reliable transportation. Primary Responsibilities:Install new HVAC systems including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ventilation units, and ductworkInspect HVAC systems and components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, and fansPerform routine preventive maintenance including changing filters, cleaning coils, checking refrigerant levels, and lubricating partsDiagnose system malfunctions and identify repair needs using diagnostic tools and test equipmentRepair or replace worn or defective parts, wiring, motors, and other mechanical componentsTest systems for proper functioning and ensure they meet performance standardsRecharge refrigerant systems in compliance with EPA regulationsCalibrate thermostats and ensure user controls function correctlyMaintain accurate records of service and repair activitiesFollow all safety procedures and building codes during installation and repairsRespond to emergency service calls and perform necessary repairs promptlyCommunicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and customers regarding work performed and system recommendationsKeep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organizedStay current with industry trends, equipment updates, and applicable regulations through ongoing trainingQualifications:Universal refrigeration licenseMust be within driving distance to RMCAD’s campusMust have valid drivers licenseMust be willing to undergo a background checkWorking Conditions and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee frequently works on high places and is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Must be able to move objects weighing up to 100 pounds regularly. Requires bending and stretching on a regular basis; may involve climbing high ladders or crawling around in confined spaces.Occasional nights and weekends are required.
