Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: DOEJob Title: Safety and Security Officer (Armed)Department: FacilitiesPosition: Non-Exempt, Full-TimeSaint Patrick Catholic School is currently seeking an Armed Safety and Security Officer to join our Facilities Team. Applicants with previous law enforcement experience are preferred. The hours for this position will be from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday - Friday. Additional hours may need to be filled on occasion for special events and evening/weekend activities taking place on campus. ExpectationsUphold the schools vision of being authentically Catholic and warmly ecumenicalCollaborate with faculty, staff, and students to establish servant leadership opportunitiesPromote a culture of respect for all members of the communityExhibit professionalism, positive relationships, and appropriate communication with all members of the community ResponsibilitiesProvide campus-wide security and ensure the security, safety, and well-being of all students, personnel, and visitors on the premisesPatrol and monitor the campus, grounds, activity fields, parking lots, and other designated areas in support of maintaining a safe environment; enforce best practices and school policiesSecures premises and personnel by controlling entry and screening all visitors per school policyMonitor surveillance and security panel alarm systems, communicate necessary information to the supervisor, and facilitate the appropriate emergency responseAssist with safety drills and audits as scheduledCompile and submit incident reports and other daily reports as required by the supervisorAssist with dismissal duty daily and other duties as assignedQualificationsMust be SSO or SRO Certified, OR must be certified within 60 days of hire.Must maintain all required licenses, endorsements, training, and certifications, including, but not limited to, basic first aid, AED, CPR training, Virginia School Security Officer (SSO) Certification, etc.General knowledge of practices concerning the protection of school buildings and groundsAbility to recognize and identify activities or situations that have or may become a problem or emergency requiring immediate attentionAbility to think and act quickly, effectively, and responsibly during an emergency; excellent problem-solving and communication skillsStrong ability to provide a very high level of customer service to the school and community.Must be able to sit or stand for long periodsMust be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb stairs, bend, crouch, crawl, stoop, and runAuthorized to work in the United StatesEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED required, some college preferredAt least two years of experience in law enforcement or the security fieldA comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualificationsSaint Patrick Catholic School is an equal opportunity employer and considers all applicants for positions without regard to race, color, sex, age, national origin, veteran status, disability, or genetic information.
