The Charles River Center provides innovative opportunities, services, and supports for over 950 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, acquired brain injury and mental health challenges, in the Metrowest and Southeast regions of Massachusetts.In-home Skill Trainers are responsible for working with individuals with special needs and their families in a variety of areas including activities of daily living, community integration, behavior management and social skills. Looking for a Skills Trainer who is hands-on, alert and detail oriented with an upbeat and loving personality. The skills trainer must be able to assist different individuals affectively and with full support. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge and skills required.Strong knowledge of behavioral individuals and ability to distinguish different coping skills.Knowledge of independent living skills and creative implementation.Assist the individual to accomplished the goals set in his/her individual support plan.Excellent problem solving, writing, communication, organizational and time management skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks in an efficient manner.Ability to interact socially, participate in games, puzzles, arts & crafts.Ability to relate to families in a positive manner and act as a role model to client.knowledge of local community resources and comfortable with going to parks, malls, restaurants, etcPatient demeanor and ability to stay calm when child is emotional or aggressiveEnthusiastic and energetic - provide positive reinforcement through personal energyComfortable with toileting and feeding assistanceComplete unique progress notes for each shift and perform other duties as assigned.Location: VariesQualifications:· High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's Degree preferred. Must have direct support experience with people with ID/DD.· Successful completion and maintenance of the following: CPR and First Aid Certification; Human Rights; Universal Precautions; Mandated Reporting; DPPC; Fire Safety and Vehicle Safety Health and employees on the 1st day of employment.· Working knowledge of behavior modification techniques.Job Type: Part-timePay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
