Apply to join our team today!Job Duties:Use web application development tools and utilities as appropriate. Design, develop, code, debug, test, implement, document, update and maintain these projects. Use appropriate code standards (a set of rules, and best practices to create cleaner, more efficient code) including an agile workflow based upon the project type and the associated coding needs. Review code of teammates, identifying and enforcing code standards. Perform the functional and technical design and implementation in a large-scale IT environment including consideration of existing automated systems with considerable supervision. Participate in the full range of software product development activities, including requirements gathering; analysis and definition; functional and technical design; coding and testing; implementation, and production support with limited supervision. Assist senior-level developers while consulting with clients on web development projects. Other duties as assigned and within the scope of the classification.Requirements / QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Experience, education, or training in coding computer applications.Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those candidates that document the following specific experiences and/or skills in their Application (Work Experience/Role Description) and/or Resume: • A list of the programming languages you have experience with, and the number of years used.• How you have used the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) at your last programming job.• Experience with communication, analysis, problem solving, and testing.• Experience with customer service - both internal and external customers.• Experience with the following: Azure DevOps and Agile methodologies, Eclipse (recent version), Git, Java 8+, HTML, HTML5, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, Junit, Servlets, JSP, JSF (Java Server Faces), PrimeFaces, Hibernate, Spring, Web Services, Apache Tomcat 8+, SSMS (Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio), SQL 2019 Database, database design, writing/running database queries and analyzing the results, writing stored procedures, WinSCP, SonarQube and/or SonarLint, Apache Maven and/or Ant, SCSM Service Portal, as well as basic office tools such as Microsoft Office, Clarity and SharePoint.• Experience working with and supporting the following agencies and areas: Department of Health & Human Services, Department of Insurance, State Fire Marshal, Department of Revenue, Department of Administrative Services, Department of Corrections, Attorney General's Office, Department of Water, Energy and Environment, Department of Motor Vehicles, Foster Care Review Board, Nebraska Real Property Appraiser Board, State Historical Society and the Office of the CIO Applications.Other:• Regular and reliable attendance is required.• Software development principles and methods• Software system testing procedures, debugging, coding, and documentation• Write clear understandable code in both new and existing applications• Ability to learn and learn quickly• Work in a Team environment• Think logically• Recognize a problem and research solutions• Organize, plan, and prioritize work• Modify and upgrade code as necessary• Read and understand the information and ideas presented• Effective and service-oriented communication of information and ideas, so both Business contacts and colleagues will understand• Reason deductively and apply general rules to specific problems to come up with logical answers and decide if an answer makes sense• Put information in order including organizing different pieces of information into a meaningful pattern and seeing similarities and differences.If you're currently employed by the State of Nebraska, please don't apply through this external career site.
