QUALIFICATIONS:1. High school diplomaorGED required. (60) college creditsora passing score on the ParaPro Assessment exam takenwithin the last 10 years required.3. Previous experience working with students preferred.4. Ability to work harmoniously with staff and students.REPORTS TO:PrincipalJOB GOAL:To assist the teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment in orderthat students may learn effectively.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning ofmaterial or skills initially introduced by the teacher.2. Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills basedon a sympathetic understanding of individual students their needs interests and abilities.3. Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.4. Distributes and collects workbooks papers and other materials for instruction.5. Guides independent study enrichment work and remedial work set up and assigned bythe teacher.6. Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills assemblies playperiods lunch periods and field trips.7. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of informationabout students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.8. Participates in inservice training programs as assigned.9. Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individualstudent.10. Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned inthe absence of the regular teacher.11. Assists with lunch snack and cleanup routines.12. Performs clerical tasks.13.
