Please ensure you include a valid email address with your application asyour email will be used to send the test invitation and link.CLASS TITLE:INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANTWork Length: 8 hours a weekDays Worked: 193 DaysDEFINITION: Under immediate supervision and evaluation by the site administrator perform work of routine difficulty in providing general instructional support services in various educational programs; and performs other related duties as required.EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:As directed assists teachers in general supervision of studentsAdministers scores and records the results of routine tests as directed by teacherAssembles distributes collects and maintains instructional materialsAssists students in interpreting assignments and following directionsSets up classroom for activities lectures and discussionsExplains instructions and assignment guidelines to studentsSupport teachers with facilitating of materials discussion topics and questions for small group discussionAddresses and answers student inquiries about course logistics or materialsMay assist an individual student if extra support is needed occasionallyReports serious issues or problems to instructorDESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:Training and Experience: A combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.Knowledge of:Correct English usage spelling punctuation and basic arithmeticGeneral classroom procedures practices and equipmentDiverse academic socioeconomic cultural and ethnic backgrounds of studentsSkill in:Following oral and written directionsCommunicating clearly both orally and in writingEstablishing and maintaining effective working relationships with othersDemonstrating patience and compassionMaintaining positive and encouraging demeanorSupporting the teachers classroom organizational systemDemonstrating knowledge of school standards and code of conductAbility to:Perform the duties of the position with or without accommodationLicense:A valid California Drivers License may be required.Certificates and Other Requirements:Ability to meet proficiency requirements as set forth in applicable state and federal laws and District Annual Notices (i.e. Mandated Reporting Blood Borne Pathogen).
