All of our system institutions place strong emphasis on service — helping to build healthier, more educated communities in South Carolina and beyond.Advertised Job Summary:Teaching duties will primarily include applied instruction in all eras of musical theatre as well as a musical theatre workshop class. Classical repertoire and technique are also a part of the studio training. Additional courses may be offered, dependent on the candidate’s area of expertise. The position will collaborate with other faculty to continue to build and foster voice training for the musical theatre singer. The ideal candidate will have a passion for remaining current in the field with regard to evolving styles, techniques, and voice pedagogy. Participation in student recruitment and other faculty activities is expected.The University of South Carolina in Columbia, founded in 1801, is the flagship Carnegie Level R1 research institution of a seven-campus, fully accredited, state-supported system. The School of Music is an independent unit on campus and a dynamic leader for music and music education in the United States with a full-time faculty of 59, and a student population of 475.The B.A. in Music (Musical Theatre Concentration) is designed for students interested in focused study in Musical Theatre. Students receive applied instruction in the various styles of Musical Theatre and participate in musical theatre workshop.
