Job Description

Job Title: Instrument TechnicianDepartment: MechanicalSub Division: MaintenanceMUST HAVE INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE (NO RESIDENTIAL OR CONTRUCTION)Primary Function:The Instrument Technician is responsible for installing relocating repairing designing adjusting calibrating and troubleshooting all types of electronic hydraulic pneumatic and control systems across a variety of industrial and production equipment.Tools & Equipment:Uses electrical and electronic tools gauges testing equipment (oscilloscopes function generators) hand and power tools welding and soldering equipment and precision testing devices. Also works with mobile equipment like forklifts and personnel lifts.Materials:Handles a wide range of materials including motors transformers sensors control systems electronic devices gauges and testing equipment. Other materials include pipe tubing paint and various soldering and cleaning supplies.Source of Supervision:Reports to Shift Supervisor or Lead Person and works independently with minimal supervision.Key Responsibilities:Receives work orders including wiring diagrams and specifications to perform installations repairs and adjustments.Analyzes and works on circuits wiring diagrams and systems related to electronics hydraulics pneumatics and communication devices.Troubleshoots and repairs electronic hydraulic and pneumatic systems; trains plant personnel as needed.Designs and constructs system adaptations and part replacements.Performs maintenance and repairs on electronic pneumatic and hydraulic devices.Makes repairs in challenging environments such as towers catwalks and pits sometimes using mobile lifts.Ensures safety procedures are followed and systems are isolated correctly during work.Applies advanced knowledge of static/dynamic physics and equipment operation principles.Fabricates parts using common tools of the trade.Works in diverse environments including exposure to hazardous materials and inclement weather.Participates in training programs to stay updated on new equipment and systems.Collaborates with the engineering department to recommend improvements or changes to equipment and systems.Maintains cleanliness in the work area.
